Please join us for a special fireside with Widtsoe Foundation Distinguished Scholar, Professor John W. Welch. This event will be held on April 8th from 7-8 pm at the Los Angeles Temple Visitors’ Center.

Professor Welch will discuss the parables of Jesus, showing how each of these memorable stories teaches a crucial step in the Plan of Salvation. Jesus was a master teacher, and His master teaching plan was the Father’s plan for us here in mortality.

Framing Jesus’s parables this way allows His followers to understand His Gospel more completely, to live the principles that He taught more faithfully, and to teach His eternal truths more effectively. Disciples of Jesus reclaim His master teaching plan by seeing the underlying doctrinal logic and power of its progressive stages.

This beautifully illustrated fireside will build on An Article In The Ensign On The Parable Of The Good Samaritan. In this light, Professor Welch will address such questions as: When did Jesus teach the Plan of Redemption and the Plan of Happiness? Why did Jesus speak in parables? Where can we find Jesus in His parables? How can we find our lost selves in these unforgettable tales of truth?
