About the Event

Replay "Come Let Us Go Up to the Mountain of the Lord's House" by Elaine S. Dalton

On April 18-19 2016, the John A. Widtsoe Foundation hosted President Matthew S. Holland, Utah Valley University, and President Elaine S. Dalton, former General Young Women President. After spending the day visiting with scholars at USC, a special YSA FHE fireside was held at the Los Angeles Temple Visitors’ Center. President Dalton gave a moving talk entitled “Come Let Us Go Up to the Mountain of the Lord’s House”.  Afterward, President Holland spoke on “Civic Charity in the Age of Diversity”, and gave an in-depth account of President Abraham Lincoln’s life in comparison with the life of Jesus Christ.

Both Presidents Dalton and Holland visited with the long lines of YSAs waiting to speak with them after the fireside. The following day, they both guest taught a leadership class in the Marshall School of Business at USC. That evening, they attended a private dinner that was hosted at the home of a dear friend of the Foundation in Laguna Beach, where Presidents Holland and Dalton gave their endorsement to the Foundation.
